Why Resize Images?

We don’t want website visitors to download unnecessarily large image files. Improperly resizing them in the CMS can cause photos to become distorted, pixelated, or fuzzy. Using Photoshop or another image editor gives you better control over the reduction process.
- Resize images before uploading them to the CMS.
- Never enlarge image sizes. This will result in a lower quality that will not look good.
- Follow the recommended image sizes for the 亚色影库 website.
Web Browser Resize Tool
This browser-based tool can crop and resize your image to 750px x 422px, the standard full-width image for the website, with options for landscape, portrait, and portrait thumbnail (used with news posts). Just drag and drop your image into the tool, update the options, and download your resized image! Remember to upload the image to Cascade.

Microsoft Photos App
In Windows File Explorer, double-click the image to open it in the Microsoft Photos app. You can crop the image, resize it, or do both.
Cropping
- Click Edit to open the editing tools
- Use the crop tool to adjust the image, then save the cropped image.
Resizing
- Click the three dots to open the See More menu. Choose Resize Image.
- Change the Width to the recommended width for the image’s intended use on the 亚色影库 website. The height should adjust automatically to maintain the image’s proportions.
- Choose the appropriate File Type:
- JPG: Generally best for photographs
- PNG: Generally best for graphics and logos, especially when transparency is needed
- Do not select TIF or BMP.
- Save the resized image as a new file so you keep the original.
- Upload the resized image to Cascade CMS.
Note: Microsoft Photos is suitable for basic cropping and resizing. If you need more precise cropping or additional image-editing options, use Photoshop.
Photoshop
Photoshop is available on all 亚色影库 campus computers. Here are instructions for resizing images in Photoshop.
If you have difficulty using Photoshop or if you do not have access to a photo-resizing program, a web search will reveal available online tools.
