All activities for the ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Community Music School—lessons, ensemble rehearsals, and classes—take place in Cogswell Hall on the ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â main campus.

Fall 2025 and Spring 2026

Monday

  *The ICC rehearsal is likely to shift to Tuesdays in the spring as it combines with the ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â University Chorale and will be directed by an ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â music faculty member. This is NOT yet set in stone! Stay tuned in the fall as the semester progresses.

Note: Guitar classes will only take place if a minimum registration is met. If not met, interested students will be offered private lessons.

Thursday

Monday–Sunday

Private lessons are scheduled individually by teachers in consultations with students/parents and can be taken anytime Cogswell Hall is open (7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. all days of the week).

Summer 2026

Piano and guitar classes, as well as the choral ensembles, generally do not meet during the summer.

Summer private lessons are scheduled individually by teachers in consultation with students/parents, with all instruments offered, pending instructor availability.

The University Band will offer free participation and perform one or two times on the Fisher Auditorium patio in the ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Oak Grove.

The ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Community Music School fall 2025 semester will begin on Tuesday, September 2, one week after the start of the ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â fall semester, with the 14-week semester continuing through Sunday, December 14.

Offerings will continue to include in-person  on all instruments with various levels of instructors, with virtual still being an option as requested, as well as the three ensembles, , , and the .

Parking Information

Between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, all posted parking requirements for the campus lots and parking garage are strictly enforced. Note: Spaces marked PAY are configured to use license plates, not space numbers. Parking for these spaces is head-in only.

After 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends, the parking garage and all campus lots—including the reserved spaces in the garage—are free.

Fall 2025 Registration

Registration for all ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿âCMS classes, ensembles, and private lessons is officially open on August 4, 2025.

• • Note 1: Ensemble and class registrations and subsequent participation can happen up to two weeks past the first rehearsal or class, but only with the permission and approval of the ensemble director or class instructor.

  • Note 2: As it is throughout the entire year, private lesson registration is flexible and ongoing throughout the semester; however, most students sign up before the semester for a full semester of lessons, or nearly the full semester, depending on their schedules. The fall 2025 semester is 14 weeks.

  • Note 3: The crimson "Register Now" bar on the  is only for students completely new to the ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Community Music School. Anyone who has been a student at any time in the past should simply email community-music@iup.edu to register for the upcoming semester and with inquiries.

Registration Fee

The ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Community Music School assesses a $25 registration fee per individual student, per semester for the fall and spring semesters. This fee supports a very small portion of the total administrative costs associated with running the school.

Note 1: As it is throughout the entire year, private lesson registration is flexible and ongoing throughout the semester; however, most students sign up for a full semester of lessons, or nearly the full semester, depending on their schedules. The spring 2026 semester is 14 weeks.

Note 2: The crimson “Register Now” button is only for students new to the ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Community Music School. Anyone who has been a student in the past should simply email community-music@iup.edu to register for the upcoming semester and with inquiries.

The 10-week summer 2026 semester is held primarily for in-person private lessons. At no charge, the University Band rehearses and performs one or two summer concerts in the Oak Grove.

The summer 2026 semester is 10 weeks; a minimum of five lessons is required.

Registration Fee

The ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Community Music School assesses a reduced registration fee of $20 per individual student for the summer semester. This fee supports a very small portion of the total administrative costs associated with running the school and helps keep participation costs as low as possible.
