Purpose
The purpose of 亚色影库’s Artificial Intelligence Strategic Initiative is to advance the responsible adoption of AI to improve student outcomes, enhance teaching and learning, support employee effectiveness, strengthen institutional decision-making, and prepare 亚色影库 graduates for an AI-enabled workforce while managing risk.
The initiative provides a framework for coordinating work already occurring across the university and identifying areas in which additional guidance, collaboration, or investment may be beneficial.
The work is organized around four pathways.
Pathway 1: AI Literacy Across All Constituents
AI literacy is the ability to understand, evaluate, and use AI tools thoughtfully and responsibly.
This pathway is focused on helping students, faculty, and staff develop a practical understanding of:
- How generative AI works
- What AI tools can and cannot do
- How to write effective prompts
- How to review and verify AI-generated information
- How privacy, security, copyright, accessibility, and ethics relate to AI
- How AI may affect specific academic disciplines and professions
Pathway 2: Best Practices and Governance for Teaching, Learning, and Student Engagement
AI introduces opportunities and challenges across teaching, learning, advising, assessment, academic integrity, and student services.
This pathway is intended to support thoughtful and consistent conversations about topics such as:
- Appropriate and inappropriate uses of AI
- Expectations for disclosing AI assistance
- Academic integrity
- AI-supported teaching and learning
- Student access and equity
- Evaluation of AI-generated work
- Privacy and protection of student information
- Human review and accountability
- Guidance for faculty, students, and academic programs
The goal is not to impose a single instructional approach across every discipline. Different courses, assignments, and professional fields may require different expectations. The initiative will help provide shared principles and resources while respecting faculty expertise and academic governance.
Pathway 3: AI Tools for Operational Efficiency and Decision-Making
AI may help employees organize information, summarize content, prepare drafts, identify patterns, document meetings, and automate appropriate routine activities.
This pathway is focused on identifying responsible use cases that may:
- Improve service to students, faculty, and staff
- Reduce repetitive administrative work
- Support information analysis
- Improve access to institutional knowledge
- Assist with meeting documentation and follow-up
- Allow employees to spend more time on work requiring judgment, creativity, collaboration, and personal interaction
Potential use cases will require appropriate review based on the information involved, the technology being used, data privacy, accessibility, security, cost, support requirements, and the consequences of an inaccurate result.
亚色影库 technical teams are exploring potential academic and administrative applications, but broader implementation decisions have not been completed. Recent internal work has emphasized beginning with tools and data already available, establishing governance and metadata foundations, and demonstrating value through appropriately scoped use cases.
Pathway 4: AI in the Curriculum
Students are entering professions in which AI is likely to affect job responsibilities, workflows, required skills, and ethical considerations.
This pathway asks academic programs to consider questions such as:
- How is AI changing this discipline or profession?
- What AI knowledge or skills will graduates need?
- What risks, limitations, and ethical concerns should students understand?
- Where might AI-related competencies fit within an existing curriculum?
- What should students be able to do independently without AI assistance?
- How can programs prepare students to evaluate AI-generated information critically?
The objective is not to require every program to teach the same tools. It is to encourage programs to consider the implications of AI within their disciplines and prepare students for evolving professional expectations.
