Tier 1

Student demonstrates need for improvement in one or more of the professional dispositions assessed throughout teacher education, including courses and field placements.

Faculty member/supervisor documents issue(s) using the Professional Dispositions Alert Form.

Faculty member/supervisor meets with student to discuss the issues and come up with a plan to improve in necessary area(s) and a date by which noticeable improvement should be observed.

Signed document is filed with the faculty member, program coordinator, and Educator Preparation Program Office.

Faculty member/supervisor will follow up with the student to determine if adequate progress has been made by the determined date.

If adequate progress has not been made as determined by the faculty member/supervisor, the process will move to Tier 2.
Tier 2

Corrective Action Plan is made with student, faculty/supervisor, and representative from the Educator Preparation Program Office

All three representatives will meet one additional time to review progress.

In most cases, the student will be removed from placement and prevented from completing another placement if necessary improvements are not made within the agreed-upon timeframe.

Note: Depending on the seriousness of the situation, a student may be removed from a field placement at any time.
